A-POC Jewellery is a line developed within Issey Miyake Inc., built on a single proposition; that fabric, preserved in resin, is a precious material. Not a metaphor. Not a simulation. The thing itself.
Cloth Becomes Stone.
For as long as jewellers have worked with textile, the relationship has been one of imitation. Metal is cast to suggest softness. Gold is hammered until it drapes. The reference is always at a remove.
A-POC Jewellery removes the remove. Actual Pleats Please fabric is encased in optically clear resin and set into gold filled metal as a craftsperson would set a stone. The fold is not decorative. It is structural. It is the piece.
The line takes its name and its logic from A-POC; A Piece of Cloth; the patented construction method developed by Issey Miyake and Dai Fujiwara in 1997. One thread. No waste seams. The jewellery inherits this founding principle; one fold, no surplus, nothing that does not need to be there.

The production process is the concept made visible. A panel of Pleats Please fabric is selected for its fold density and cut by hand to the dimensions of the piece. It is positioned in a mould, then sealed in a single pour of optically clear resin. No second pour. No correction. The fold is fixed at this moment; permanent, unrepeatable.
The metal setting is shaped after the resin has cured. The craftsperson works from the actual piece rather than a template, so the gold follows the cloth. Not the other way around. This is the inversion the line is built on; the material hierarchy of conventional jewellery, reversed.
Every piece in the Resin Preserved Textile series is unique as a direct consequence of how it is made. No two pours behave identically at the surface of the fabric. No two folds are the same depth, the same angle, the same light.

Scarcity
The A-POC patent is held exclusively by Issey Miyake Inc. No competitor can legally replicate the construction method. Each resin pour is structurally unrepeatable.
Craftsmanship
Hand-poured resin, hand-set in gold filled. The setting is shaped around the cured piece; no template, no standardised form. Each setting is specific to each fold.
Symbolic Meaning
Wearing A-POC Jewellery is a position on material hierarchy. The pleat as precious stone is a statement about what we choose to value. It is not a logo. It is a point of view.

Houda Ouguellit
Creative Director and Co-Founder
Houda originated the inversion at the heart of the line; the idea that fabric, not metal, is the precious material. She leads the creative vision of A-POC Jewellery from concept to campaign, and is responsible for the design language that connects each piece to the founding logic of the Issey Miyake house.
Komal Pandya
Head of Material Research and Development
Komal leads the technical development of every piece; from the selection of Pleats Please fabric panels to the resin formulation and gold filled specifications. She is responsible for the material logic that makes each piece both genuinely unique and genuinely durable, including the decision to work with gold filled rather than gold plated.
Gabrielle Roux dit Buisson
Head of Brand and Communications
Gabrielle shapes how A-POC Jewellery speaks; to press, to collectors, and to the next generation of Issey Miyake customers. She leads the brand's editorial strategy, press relationships, and channel positioning, including the bifurcated approach that addresses both Millennial and Gen Z audiences without compromising either.
Sarah Gbocho
Head of Production and Client Experience
Sarah oversees the production pipeline and the client journey from first enquiry to final delivery. She manages the commission programme, atelier coordination, and the provenance and certification process that accompanies every piece. The standard that no piece leaves without its certificate and numbered card is hers.

Issey Miyake Inc. Founded
The house is established in Tokyo on a single founding premise; that clothing should begin with the relationship between a piece of cloth and the human body. Everything that follows is an elaboration of this idea.
Pleats Please Launched
A proprietary permanent pleating technique applied to finished garments. The fabric is cut oversized, sandwiched in paper, and passed through a heat press that sets the fold permanently into the polyester fibres. The result is a textile with structural memory; the material at the core of every A-POC Jewellery piece.
A-POC Patent Filed
Issey Miyake and Dai Fujiwara file the A-POC patent; A Piece of Cloth. Garments produced from a single continuous thread, cut from a tube of fabric with no waste seams. Zero offcut. The technique predates sustainability as a fashion trend by more than two decades and remains exclusively held by Issey Miyake Inc.
Issey Miyake Passes Away
The founder of the house passes away in Tokyo. The house continues under his legacy; not as a museum of his work, but as an ongoing practice rooted in the questions he spent fifty years asking. A-POC Jewellery is one answer.
